Terms and Conditions
The terms on which Shotovergrand provides casino-themed offline event entertainment in New Zealand, including what the service is and is not, how bookings work, and where responsibility sits.
1. These terms
These terms apply to all services provided by Shotovergrand (“we”, “us”), legal name Shotovergrand, registered in New Zealand at 13 Murrell Avenue, Lake, Manapouri 9679, New Zealand, and to all use of shotovergrand.com. “You” means the person or organisation booking an event.
A booking is made when you accept a written proposal from us and we confirm the date in writing. Where a signed agreement or purchase order conflicts with these terms, the signed document prevails for that booking.
2. What the service is
We provide offline, adults-only, casino-themed event entertainment: the supply and operation of entertainment tables, symbolic chips, trained hosts and related event production at a venue you nominate, within New Zealand.
3. What the service is not
For the avoidance of any doubt:
- The service is not gambling and does not involve betting, wagering or games of chance played for money or anything of monetary value.
- No stakes are accepted. No guest may stake money, property, services or favours at any table.
- No cash prizes or cash-equivalent prizes are offered, funded, handled or awarded by us.
- No online casino service, remote gambling, online gaming or betting platform is provided by us.
- No slot machines, electronic gaming machines or screen-based gaming equipment are supplied.
- We are not a gambling operator and do not hold a gambling licence, because the service does not involve gambling.
4. Symbolic chips
Chips used at our events are symbolic tokens for scorekeeping only. They:
- are issued free and in equal quantity to guests;
- are not sold, and cannot be purchased or topped up;
- have no monetary or redeemable value of any kind;
- cannot be exchanged for money, credit, goods, services or vouchers;
- remain our property and are reconciled at the end of the event.
Where you hire equipment without our hosts, you agree to apply these same rules at your event, and you may not sell, redeem or bank chips or permit guests to stake anything of value.
5. Age restriction
Our events are for guests aged 20 or over. You confirm when booking that everyone on the event floor will meet that age restriction, and you agree to support any ID checking required by your venue. Our hosts may refuse to admit a person to a table, and may close a table, if the age restriction is not being met. No refund arises from a closure on that ground.
6. Bookings and proposals
- Proposals are free, carry no obligation and are valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
- Prices are quoted individually for each event. We do not publish a rate card, because the price depends on the size of the event, the venue, travel and the format chosen.
- A date is held only once we confirm the booking in writing.
- The maximum guest number per event is 155 and the maximum duration is 6 hours, including agreed set-up and pack-down windows.
7. Payment
Payment terms are set out in your written proposal and invoice. As a general structure, an initial booking payment is payable to confirm the date and the balance is payable in accordance with the invoice. Specific amounts, instalments, methods and due dates are stated in your own proposal and invoice, not in these terms. Prices stated in a proposal are exclusive of GST unless the proposal says otherwise. We may charge interest and reasonable recovery costs on amounts that remain unpaid after the due date.
8. Changes and cancellation
8.1 Changes by you
Tell us as early as you can. We will accommodate changes to guest numbers, timings, format or venue where we reasonably can; some changes affect the price, particularly where they alter travel, freight, staffing or branded items already in production.
8.2 Cancellation by you
Cancellation must be in writing. The cancellation terms, including any sums retained by reference to how close to the event date you cancel, are stated in your written proposal. Costs already irrevocably committed on your behalf — in particular freight, travel bookings and custom branded items — remain payable.
8.3 Cancellation by us
We may cancel a booking if payment terms are not met, if the event as actually planned would breach clause 3, 4 or 5, or if a venue cannot safely accommodate the agreed build. If we cancel for any reason other than your breach, we will refund sums you have paid for undelivered services.
9. Your responsibilities
- Securing the venue and the authority to hold your event there, including any permit, licence or landlord consent needed.
- Giving us accurate information about access, floor space, power, floor type, lift and door dimensions, and venue house rules.
- Providing the agreed access window: generally about four hours before guests arrive and one hour after they leave.
- Alcohol service, catering and crowd management, unless your proposal expressly says otherwise.
- Enforcing the 20+ restriction on the event floor together with your venue.
- Guest conduct, and the cost of any loss or damage to our equipment caused by guests at your event.
- Any prize, trophy or gift you choose to present. You must not offer money or a cash-equivalent as a prize in connection with our tables.
10. Our responsibilities
- Supplying the equipment, hosts and production set out in your proposal, in good working order and properly presented.
- Arriving and completing the build within the agreed window.
- Briefing hosts on your running order, your guest profile and the house rules.
- Applying the house rules consistently, including closing a table where necessary.
- Working within your venue’s rules on access, power, rigging and noise.
- De-rigging quietly and returning the venue substantially as we found it.
11. Equipment
All equipment, chips, cards and branded pieces supplied by us remain our property unless your proposal says you are purchasing an item. You are responsible for our equipment while it is at your venue under a hire without hosts, from delivery until collection, except for fair wear and tear.
12. Photography
We may photograph a completed, empty room for our own portfolio. We do not photograph your guests, and we will not publish any image identifying your organisation or any individual without your written permission. Tell us if you would prefer no photography at all and we will not take any.
13. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 where those Acts apply to you. Where you book as a business and for business purposes, you agree that the Consumer Guarantees Act does not apply.
Subject to the paragraph above:
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or anticipated savings;
- we are not liable for loss arising from inaccurate information you or your venue gave us, or from a venue restriction we were not told about;
- our total liability in connection with an event is limited to the fees you have paid us for that event.
We maintain public liability insurance appropriate to this service and will provide a certificate of currency on request.
14. Force majeure
Neither party is liable for failure to perform caused by an event beyond its reasonable control, including natural disaster, severe weather, earthquake, fire, flood, epidemic or pandemic, public health order, government restriction, civil emergency, industrial action, failure of transport infrastructure or loss of venue through no fault of ours. Where such an event prevents your booking from proceeding, we will first try to agree a new date, and we will refund sums paid for services we cannot deliver and do not re-provide.
15. Website use
Content on shotovergrand.com is provided for information. Text, images and design on the site belong to us or are used with permission; please do not reproduce them commercially without asking. Nothing on the site is an offer capable of acceptance; a contract arises only as described in clause 1.
16. Privacy
We handle personal information as described in our Privacy Policy and use cookies as described in our Cookie Policy.
17. Complaints
If something goes wrong, tell us as soon as you can at [email protected] or on +64 3 315 7449. We acknowledge complaints within five working days and aim to resolve them within 20 working days.
18. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
19. General
If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest continues to apply. A failure to enforce a term is not a waiver of it. These terms, together with your written proposal, form the entire agreement for your event. We may update these terms for future bookings; the terms that apply to your booking are those current when we confirmed it in writing.

Before you book
Any term you want clarified, ask first.
We would rather spend ten minutes on a question now than discover a misunderstanding on the night of your event.
